The basic answer is that hemp does not require any herbicides or pesticides during its growing cycle.
That’s because the oil in the cultivation seed provides the plant with a lot of vigour to help it to get past its competitors (weeds). Also there are very few pests that are attracted to hemp – so no sprays are used.
So our hemp is grown without pesticides or herbicides here in the UK.
However, unlike most organic producers we actually test for pesticides, herbicides and glysophate which gives us the confidence to state that our products are "better than organic".
Organic certification schemes never require their growers or processors to actually carry out any tests either on the product or on the soil.
