Happy Gut – The British Hemp Company

 Introducing Happy Gut

In September 2022 we launched a new product “Fibre plus”. Since then we have sold over 3,800 500g packs!
Acting on the very positive feedback from our “Fibre Plus” customers we decided to design three pre-biotic gut health products.

The Trial
In August we carried out a trial of 84 people. They all received 30 days supply of a happy gut product.
75% of trial participants reported positive gut health changes within 30 days.
64% of trial participants reported increased energy levels within 30 days.
56% of trial participants reported an improvement in mental health within 30 days.
The results of the trial are here: document
From the feedback we ascertained what worked and what didn’t. We blended the feedback with the evidence and used researchers to comb through 20 years of research that is available in the public domain.

What we discovered was in equal measures shocking and exciting.

SHOCKING:

According to the National Diet and Nutrition Survey 90% of people don’t get enough fibre in their diet. This can lead to a multitude of serious diseases and conditions.

From the UK Government: “An association is indicated between higher consumption of dietary fibre and a reduced incidence of cardiovascular disease, coronary events and stroke”*

From the NHS: “There is strong evidence that eating plenty of fibre (commonly referred to as roughage) is associated with a lower risk of heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes and bowel cancer.”** Also from the NHS: “Not eating enough fibre can cause constipation, diverticular disease and haemorrhoids.”*** According to the American National Library of Medicine the correct levels of dietary fibre “can reduce chronic inflammation, depression, cardiovascular disease, colorectal carcinoma.”****

EXCITING:

A simple daily consumption of dietary fibre (insoluble and soluble) incorporated into your diet can make massive differences to your health and well being.

Quotes from our 30 day trial:

“Feeling more energised and digestion actively smoother.”
“More energy and clearer thinking. I didn’t feel as sluggish and lethargic.”
“Feeling more positive.”
“Yes, feeling a lot happier all round.”
“Less anxious, no cramps which come with stress.”
“I felt less hungry than I usually do.”
“Inflammation improved.”
“No pain, less wind, more regular.”
“Digestion much improved.”
“A lighter stomach, curbed my food cravings.”
“A flatter stomach, general bloating much improved, great for self confidence.”
“It has helped a lot with my anxiety.”
“A satisfied feeling.”
“More settled generally”.

SOLUTION: simple to use, functional food:

Based on the outcomes of the trial we designed three separate food products that are simple, 100% natural and can easily be added into an ordinary diet. We combined hemp (our source of insoluble fibre) and inulin (chicory root) to provide the soluble fibre. That’s it. No added sugars, preservatives, or anti caking agents, non GMO and allergen free.

What is it?
Happy Gut is an innovate blend of soluble and insoluble fibre in three different ratios for gut health.

What does it taste like?

Our trialists said:

“Tastes fantastic. Great product. Highly recommended.”
“I think that you have a winner here, having eliminated the bitter taste of the neat hemp powder and adding a valuable fibre with the inulin.”

How should I use it?

Our trialists said:

“Great mixed in with yogurt,” “in a smoothie,” “in soups,” “in plant milk with berries,” “in homemade granola with Greek yogurt a few berries and some vanilla extract or honey,” “in a smoothie with chocolate powder, almond milk, cacao and berries,” “in overnight oats,” “in bean stew,” “on avocado toast,” “blended with kefir,” with “weetabix, honey and cinnamon,” “in protein bites,” “in place of flaxseed,” “in hummus,” “in peanut butter,” “in thick smoothies,” “in shakes”.

How much should I use?

Please see recommended daily amounts under each product image.
An intake of dietary fibre is recommended to be 30g per day but you should be getting fibre from a variety of sources.

Any fibre product should be introduced gradually to minimise any upset to your stomach.

Please ensure you are properly hydrated as fibre requires water to function properly in the gut.
