Looking for simple ways to add more fibre to your everyday diet? British Hemp Co Fibre Plus is an incredibly versatile ingredient that can be added to everything from breakfast bowls to baking and savoury meals.

Made from 100% British hemp seed, Fibre Plus has a naturally nutty, earthy flavour that works particularly well with oats, chocolate, nuts, seeds and savoury dishes.

Here are three easy recipes to get you started.

1. Hemp Fibre, Apple & Cinnamon Overnight Oats

A quick, filling breakfast that can be prepared the night before.

Serves 1

Ingredients

  • 50g rolled oats

  • 20g British Hemp Co Fibre Plus

  • 150ml milk or plant-based milk

  • ½ apple, grated

  • 1 tbsp natural or Greek yoghurt

  • ½ tsp cinnamon

  • 1 tsp honey or maple syrup

  • Small handful of walnuts or British Hemp Co Hemp Seed Hearts

Method

Add the oats, Fibre Plus and cinnamon to a bowl or jar and mix together.

Stir in the milk, yoghurt and grated apple until everything is well combined.

Cover and leave in the fridge overnight.

In the morning, give it a good stir and add a little more milk if you prefer a looser consistency.

Top with walnuts or hemp seed hearts and finish with a drizzle of honey or maple syrup.

British Hemp Co tip: Try adding berries, sliced banana or a spoonful of nut butter for an easy variation.

2. Chocolate & Hemp Fibre Energy Bites

A simple no-bake recipe that's ideal for keeping in the fridge when you fancy something sweet.

Makes approximately 12 bites

Ingredients

  • 100g smooth peanut or almond butter

  • 70g rolled oats

  • 40g British Hemp Co Fibre Plus

  • 2 tbsp cocoa or cacao powder

  • 2 tbsp honey or maple syrup

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 2–4 tbsp milk or plant-based milk

  • 30g dark chocolate chips – optional

Method

Place the oats, Fibre Plus and cocoa powder into a mixing bowl.

Add the nut butter, honey or maple syrup and vanilla.

Mix thoroughly, adding the milk a tablespoon at a time until the mixture holds together.

Stir through the dark chocolate chips if using.

Roll the mixture into approximately 12 bite-sized balls.

Place in the fridge for at least 30 minutes to firm up.

Store in an airtight container in the fridge.

British Hemp Co tip: Roll the finished bites in hemp seed hearts for a little extra texture.

3. Hemp Fibre Veggie Burgers

Fibre Plus doesn't have to be reserved for breakfast and smoothies. Its slightly coarse texture makes it a useful addition to homemade veggie burgers too.

Makes 4 burgers

Ingredients

  • 1 x 400g tin kidney beans or black beans, drained and rinsed

  • 50g British Hemp Co Fibre Plus

  • 1 small onion, finely chopped

  • 1 small carrot, grated

  • 1 garlic clove, crushed

  • 1 tbsp tomato purée

  • 1 tsp smoked paprika

  • ½ tsp ground cumin

  • 1 tbsp soy sauce

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • Black pepper to taste

Method

Preheat the oven to 200°C / 180°C fan.

Place the beans in a large bowl and roughly mash them with a fork. You want some texture remaining rather than a completely smooth mixture.

Add the Fibre Plus, onion, carrot, garlic, tomato purée, paprika, cumin and soy sauce.

Mix thoroughly and leave for around 5 minutes.

Divide into four and shape into burgers.

Place on a lined baking tray, lightly brush with olive oil and bake for approximately 20–25 minutes, turning halfway through.

Serve in a bun, with a salad or alongside roasted vegetables
