One of the questions that we are often asked is how do you process the products.
All our products are processed mechanically, there are no chemicals or solvents used.
Hemp seed is cold pressed and the seed cake is then milled to make protein 50, protein 40 and Fibre plus. In this way there is very little waste – apart from the debris that is filtered out of the oil which we sell to fishermen!
Hulled seed is treated differently – it is graded so that only the large seeds get to the next stage – and then the large seeds are cracked. After that the hulls are removed in a mechanical cleaning process leaving clean hulled seed behind.
The smaller seeds are pressed for oil and the hulls are then fed to chickens, another zero waste system.
